When Will NY Mobile Sports Betting Apps Launch?

New York sports fans and sports bettors are anxiously waiting for legal online sports betting

New York sports fans and sports bettors are anxiously waiting for legal online sports betting to arrive in their state. The good news is, they may not have to wait for much longer. On Nov. 8, the New York State Gaming Commission approved the first nine sportsbook operators. Just a few weeks later, the NYSGC released its official rules and regulations, paving the way for mobile sportsbooks to launch just in time for the Super Bowl in February.

Launch Date for New York Sportsbooks

With the NYSGC releasing its official framework in November, the stage is now set for legal sports betting in New York. Now, the nine operators need to prepare their servers and operations to meet the guidelines laid out by the gaming commission.

There is no set deadline for the first sportsbook to launch, but most folks are speculating with confidence that sports betting will arrive in New York in early 2022, just in time for March Madness and the Super Bowl.

Legal New York Sportsbooks

The nine vendors approved to operate mobile sportsbooks in New York are FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BallyBet, Rush Street Interactive, Caesars Sportsbook, Resorts World, WynnBet, and PointsBet.

The state of New York will also join its neighbors Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut by offering online sportsbooks, and operators such as DraftKings and FanDuel will be pleased as they offer their app in each state.

DraftKings

DraftKings continues its expansion with its presence in New York. The company secured a license with help from del Lago Resort & Casino, a casino resort in upstate New York.

DraftKings New York partnered with del Lago Resort & Casino to bring its sportsbook to NY. Located in Waterloo, the resort sits much closer to Syracuse and Buffalo than it does to Manhattan’s bustling downtown area.

Currently, residents of New York can place sports bets at the Del Lago Resort & Casino. It’s only a matter of weeks until folks can access the DraftKings mobile app and place bets online.

DraftKings is expected to offer a New York promo to new players. The promo is subject to change but it’s likely that new players can claim a $50 free bet, and a $1,000 deposit match bonus.

FanDuel

DraftKings’ rival FanDuel has been eyeing the New York sports betting market for years. In November 2019, the company announced its formal partnership with MSG, which made it the official gaming sponsor for New York Knicks and New Jersey Devils broadcasts on MSG Networks.

FanDuel New York will also likely announce a new player sign-up bonus when the sportsbook becomes available in the state. Its typical bonus is a risk-free bet of up to $1,000. New York sports bettors undoubtedly appreciate the bonus as well as the myriad of options when it comes to prop and future bets at FanDuel, something the sportsbook is widely known for.

Other New York Sportsbooks

In addition to DraftKings and FanDuel, the remaining seven mobile sportsbooks are also gearing up for launch in the coming months. It’s par for the course to offer new players welcome bonuses. Thus, New York sports fans can expect several options when it comes to choosing a new sportsbook.

Furthermore, Caesars Sportsbook also operates in nearby states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Therefore, bettors who sign up for Caesars can easily access their account and more importantly bet if they cross state lines.
