People across Southern California are taking to social media to post photos and videos of visible smoke due to the active wildfires across Central and Northern California.
Cal Fire has said that 9,300 personnel remain assigned to 10 active large wildfires. Some Southern California agencies and cities are also letting people on social media that the smoke is not a current threat to their safety.
Here is a sampling of photos and videos of the smoke across the region:
9 AM – We can see a distinct wall of smoke slowly pushing south at this hour. Does anyone have a view of the leading edge of the smoke or what the skies look like under it, such as the Victorville / Hesperia areas? Let us know! pic.twitter.com/87HwmlojQz

Scanner feeds for the fire are just terrible. Here’s the current images. The tankers look to be focusing on dropping along Bear Mtn Rd on the southside. #FawnFire #Redding #ShastaLake @CALFIRESHU pic.twitter.com/vq4HZhj84k

The smoke in the sky we are experiencing is coming in from distant wildfires in North and Central California. Please do not be alarmed and call 9-11 to inquire. 9-1-1 should be used for immediate Emergency Help Only. #MyGFD #MyGlendale pic.twitter.com/o52RrPTXL6

Yes, that’s smoke.
Much of the MDAQMD jurisdiction’s skies are covered by smoke coming from the KNP Complex and Windy fires burning west of California’s Central Valley. So far, the smoke is remaining aloft, leaving our ambient air quality unaffected. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/lje9HxXvgv— Mojave Desert #AirQuality Management District (@MDAQMD) September 23, 2021

Smoke is highly visible in the city, but it is important to note that there is no current threat to Monrovia. As the smoke continues to settle, the community should expect poorer air quality than usual. https://t.co/a6ov4EA2C4

Looking at lots of drift smoke across the area from the Windy Fire located up near the Sequia Nat’l Forest. There are no active fires in our area. Most of this smoke is aloft with little reaching the surface. A few thundershowers are possible through the weekend, gradually cooler pic.twitter.com/zvSmSjqJCr
