Family members say Elias was a former corrections officer at MDC and had just taken a job with the postal service.Police say he came out of the house and threatened to shoot the suspects. Investigators say that’s when Avila shot and killed Elias. His little brother managed to get away. “It was very traumatic for all of us and it’s something we’re going to have to live with for the rest of our lives,” Alicia Otero said.
